Hunting and Angling Groups Demand Climate Action
Oregonian sportsmen Matt Stansberry and Rob Kirschner joined dozens of hunters and anglers from across the country in Washington, DC on February 12, 2008 to make sure Congress listens to the voice of sportsmen on global warming. They personally delivered a letter signed by 677 hunting and fishing groups representing all 50 states, including 28 groups from Oregon
The letter was also featured in a full-page ad in USA Today (pdf).

The message was clear:
- America needs to reduce greenhouse gases that are polluting the environment.
- Congress needs to provide wildlife professionals with the resources they need to ensure wildlife survives a changing climate.
It's not too late to sign this letter.

FACT SHEET:
"Global Warming and Oregon"
The average temperature in the Pacific Northwest has already increased about 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit over the past century, and unless action is taken now, scientists estimate that average temperatures will continue to rise 3.1 to 5.3 degrees by the 2040s. As a result, the region will continue to experience extreme precipitation changes including hotter, drier summers, increased droughts and wildfires, severe downpours and flash flooding, reduced mountain snowpack and earlier snowmelt. How will these changes impact wildlife?
