Climate Bill Stalls in Senate, Majority Support Action

On June 6, 2008 U.S. Senators went on record as to where they stand when it comes to confronting climate change. The Climate Security Act fell short of the 60 votes needed to proceed, 54 senators stood up in support of climate action.

The Climate Security Act was poised to make great strides in addressing the threat of global warming and helping to protect wildlife and America's natural resources. Even though it didn't pass, the support shown for this legislation on both sides of the aisle laid solid groundwork for climate action in the coming year with a new Congress and president.
